Warhammer 40k Painting - Dark Eldar Warriors - Part 1

Hey mates!

Its time for some Dark Eldar!

This on is pretty long!

Got another commission on my table, been working on alot of different stuff from Flames of War tanks, terrain, more Astral Claws marines, a display board and multiple commissions. Is fun getting to handle all these different pieces.

Dark Eldar another great faction in the Warhammer 40k universe that I normally would not get a chance to paint. I am again really enjoying these models, is alot of great details on each model.

Example model provided to me.

One of the big things about this commission it is has 4 color schemes. Thankfully I was given alot of freedom in the choice of each scheme, just had to have 4 different ones. I spent more time planning the color blends as a result, but at this stage am very happy with how they all coming along.

Blue Scheme Base

The first scheme is blue, have always enjoyed  working with blue for space marines.

This time around I went with a very light colored blue primer, then used a light blue base and highlighted with two other blue blends.

Paints use on base

Army Painter - Electric blue primer " liquid "

Red Scheme Base

Final scheme is for the HQ, each model will have its left arm painted in red. The HQ is painted in full red, so the scheme process will be exactly the same for the HQ as it is for the left arm.

Army Painter - Dragon Red

Shades!

If you find yourself wondering what the difference is between Nulin Oil and Nulin Oil Gloss.

Here is the difference.

Nulin Oil Gloss is on the right.

I applied a light shade to the red, before doing some further edge highlight work.

I then worked on the lion cloths.

The models still have a lot of detail work ahead of them, am near the end of this project. Is a bit more blending needed to be done. Am working on the eye right now, then do some metallic work on the models, then pouches and some other final touch ups.
